Broad's three quick wickets after tea left England scenting victory

England will need to take just four wickets on the final day in Durban to win the second Test and seal a first victory in the city since 1964.

A remarkable wicket-taking burst from Graeme Swann (3-22) and Stuart Broad (3-18) left South Africa 76-6 before bad light and rain came to their aid.

They were still 156 runs behind England as the Barmy Army roared its approval.

Rain set to help England to series win in South Africa

England captain Andrew Strauss
England could become only the second team to beat the hosts in a one-day series in South Africa with Friday's finale in Durban set to be hit by rain.

Only Australia have beaten the Proteas at home in a one-day series, but England lead 2-1 with one game to play.

Drizzle swept across Kingsmead two and a half hours before the scheduled start, with heavier rain forecast to set in by mid to late afternoon.

That left the chances of even a minimum 20-overs-per-side match remote.
