The 23-year-old from Kent was promoted to number four and responded with an unbeaten 47 off 53 balls. She shared stands of 49 and 44 with Beth Morgan and Jenny Gunn as England reached 126-5 with four balls to spare. Earlier, Marsh, Katherine Brunt, Nicki Shaw and Danielle Hazell took a wicket each in India's total of 125-4. It was par for the course by the home side, who made 125-5 and 126-7 in the two previous games, but it needed an enterprising partnership of 56 between Harmanpreet Kaur (30 not out) and Anjum Chopra (22) to get them there.

Morgan shared 90 with Matt Prior before three wickets fell in as many overs. But left-hander Morgan stayed cool and finished the match with a six as England won with seven balls left.

Yorkshire sign a Batsman for Twenty20

The vastly-experienced South African Test opener, 35, had short spells with Glamorgan in 2008 and 2009. Herschelle Gibbs has made 20 Twenty20 appearances for South Africa By moving to Headingley, Gibbs becomes the second of four overseas players permitted to be registered for the T20. Yorkshire's other overseas signing for this summer's competition is Australian all-rounder Ryan Harris. The Tykes have also signed New Zealand's Daryl Tuffey to cover for Harris' early-season absence.

The fifth seed raced to a 3-0 lead and finally edged the first set after a brief fightback from the Frenchman. The second set was a much smoother affair and despite another wobble in the middle of the third, Murray kept his cool to secure victory. Murray next faces John Isner, who beat 12th seed Gail Monfils in four sets. Murray admitted he had let his opponent off the hook in the opening set but was pleased to progress.
